2026 Plumbing & Gas Industry Awards Finalists Announced

Queensland’s plumbing and gas industry is preparing to celebrate another outstanding group of apprentices, tradespeople, business leaders, trainers, businesses and project teams, with the finalists for the 2026 Plumbing & Gas Industry Awards now announced.

This year’s shortlist includes 94 finalist places across 15 award categories, recognising achievement at every stage of the industry — from school-based apprentices taking their first steps into the trade, through to experienced tradespeople and business leaders, as well as businesses and project teams delivering outstanding work across Queensland.

The winners will be revealed at the 26th Plumbing & Gas Industry Awards on Friday 30 October 2026 at the Events Centre, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane. The annual event brings together apprentices, tradespeople, contractors, businesses and industry leaders to recognise excellence, innovation and commitment across plumbing, gas and hydraulic consultancy.

A new award recognising rising industry talent

For the first time in 2026, the awards program includes the Rising Star Award, expanding the Business & Individual Awards and creating another opportunity to recognise emerging talent within the plumbing and gas industry.

Six finalists have been named in the inaugural category, which reflects the broader purpose of the awards to recognise achievement at different stages of an industry career and showcase contribution, professional growth and commitment to excellence.

Strong representation from the next generation

Apprentice recognition continues to be an important part of the awards, with 31 finalist places across five apprentice categories being announced this year.

The apprentice categories recognise more than technical ability alone, with criteria across the program considering areas including on-the-job performance, commitment to the trade, professional growth, leadership and future aspirations.

The Queensland Apprentice of the Year will be announced during the awards event, from the winners of the Second, Third and Fourth Year Apprentice of the Year categories.

Recognising the people and businesses behind the industry

Across the Business & Individual Awards, this year’s finalists represent a broad cross-section of the industry.

A number of businesses feature across several categories, with recognition extending across their apprentices, individual team members, business leadership and, in some cases, project work. It provides a snapshot of the depth of talent within Queensland businesses and the different ways people contribute to the strength of the industry.

The MPAQ President’s Award, recognising significant long-term contribution to the plumbing and gas industry and MPAQ, will also be announced at the event.

Projects showcasing Queensland expertise

Four Project Award categories recognise outstanding plumbing, gas and hydraulic consultancy work across Queensland.

This year’s finalists span commercial, residential, health, infrastructure and hydraulic design projects, showcasing excellence in workmanship, innovation and technical delivery.

26 years of industry excellence

The Plumbing & Gas Industry Awards have grown into one of the major annual celebrations of Queensland’s plumbing and gas industry.

More than 700 people are expected to attend the 2026 event, with an expanded program and another diverse group of finalists representing the people, businesses and projects helping shape the industry.

Congratulations to every 2026 finalist on this achievement.
