This is a QBCC approved online course required for all plumbers who need to renew the backflow endorsement on their plumbing licence. If a plumber or provisional plumber has previously held a backflow prevention endorsement, the Backflow Prevention Revalidation course completed within the last five (5) years.
The course provides an in-depth review of current legislation related to backflow procedures and practices. It focuses on the competencies required to test, commission, and maintain backflow prevention devices. Topics include preparation for the work, identifying testing and commissioning requirements, conducting physical testing and commissioning, performing device maintenance, and completing finalisation processes.
To complete the backflow revalidation course, participants will be required to complete a self-paced online assessment and submit seven (7) previous test reports, tested to the current standard.
PLEASE NOTE: A webcam is required to participate in the course and action its content.
Prerequisites
The revalidation is only available for plumbers who currently hold the backflow endorsement on their plumber’s licence. The backflow endorsement is required to be revalidated prior to its expiry date; however, it can be completed by licensees within 12 months after the expiry date as listed on their licence.
Unique Student Identifier
Students must also possess a valid USI.
All learners undertaking nationally accredited training must possess a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI). The USI is an individual education number that allows learners to access their training records and results at any time. If learners do not possess a valid USI while undertaking accredited training they will be unable to receive a Statement of Attainment.
Course Delivery
This course is delivered online and is self-paced. Students will be given one month to complete the course.
Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this course learners will be able to renew the Backflow Prevention endorsement on their plumber’s licence.
Course Recognition
As this course is QBCC approved, upon successful completion learners will be issued with a Certificate of Completion. The certificate must be presented to the QBCC to have the endorsement renewed on your licence.

- Members: $250 (GST Inclusive)
- Associate Members: $342 (GST Inclusive)
- Non-members: $380 (GST Inclusive)

MPAQ members (excluding associate retired and associate apprentices) are eligible for a discount on MPAQ courses.
In order to access the discount you must fulfil one of the following eligibility requirements:
- You must be a member for at least one year if paying for membership monthly; or
- You must pay for your membership upfront for one year.
Course Subsidies
As of 27 June 2025, our allocation of Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding has been fully exhausted. We are proud to have supported individuals and businesses through CSQ-funded training, and we thank you for your support and understanding.
Funding may become available again with the commencement of a new CSQ funding contract from 1 October 2025. We will provide updates through our website and communication channels as more information becomes available.

Additional Fees
Additional fees may apply for the process of reissuing your licence with the backflow endorsement. These fees and charges will be incurred from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) and any issues with these fees should be raised directly with them.

NOTE: The AS2845.3:2010 is still active in Queensland until the Form 9 is updated to require testing to be performed to AS/NZS2845.3:2020.
